Why Not Sea Monsters? - Songs from the New Testament (CD)

📖 12 original songs based on stories from the New Testament
🎵 Includes full lyrics and guitar chords

The companion volume to Songs from the Hebrew Scriptures — and every bit as good. Why Not Sea Monsters? Songs from the New Testament is Justin Roberts retelling 12 stories from the New Testament, and produced by longtime collaborator Liam Davis, who plays most of the instruments throughout.

The loaves and fishes, walking on water, the resurrection, Mary and Martha, the Good Samaritan — Roberts brings the same mix of warmth, humor, and genuine feeling to the New Testament that made the Hebrew Scriptures album so beloved. The New York Times has called Roberts "among the most respected songwriters" in children's music, and tracks like "Shh Shh Shh" — a quietly beautiful take on Mary and Martha — and "Is It You?," a moving reflection on the mysteries of resurrection, show exactly why. "Bigger Fish to Fry" and "Rub a Dub a Dub Dub" show the other side: Roberts having fun with stories he clearly loves.

Like its companion volume, the CD includes full lyrics and guitar chords, making it an ideal resource for families, Sunday schools, and church music programs. Both volumes are also available together as a two-CD set. Released 2005 on Carpet Square Records.
