Justin Roberts — Wild Life (Vinyl LP)

⭐ GRAMMY® Nominated — Best Album for Children, 2020

Also available on CD. The vinyl edition gives Wild Life's intimate chamber arrangements — cello, marimba, piano, and horns — exactly the warm, unhurried sound they deserve. Stunning at any volume, and a particularly beautiful record to have spinning during the last hour before bed.

Something a little different from four-time GRAMMY® nominee Justin Roberts — and something genuinely special. Wild Life is Roberts' most personal album, written after the birth of his first child. Rather than writing from a kid's point of view, he turns the lens around: this is a parent's album, full of the wonder, worry, and overwhelming love that comes with bringing a new life into the world.

The sound matches the mood — warm and unhurried, built around cello, marimba, piano, and horns rather than his usual power-pop energy. Many of the 10 songs drift naturally toward lullaby territory, making this as perfect for bedtime as it is for a quiet afternoon. Standouts include the joyful "Glad You're Here," the tender "You Grew," and the title track, written by playwright Craig Wright, which sends kids off with a simple, beautiful message: cut your own path through this wild life.

A rare children's record that speaks just as directly to parents. Released February 2020 on Carpet Square Records.
